September is here. If your son or daughter still hasn’t sorted their accommodation for 2026/27, this one’s for you.
At Castle Homes, we’ve been housing Hull students since 1987. We hear from parents just as much as we hear from students, and the questions are usually pretty similar. So we’ve pulled together the ones that come up most often.
Is the Area Safe?
This is always the first thing parents ask (and fairly so). Our student houses in Hull come with a serious approach to safety. Depending on the property, tenants benefit from lockable double-glazed doors and windows, coded external entry doors, CCTV, security lighting, and a warden service.
Every property also holds an annual gas safety certificate, a five-yearly electrical certificate, and a centralised fire alarm system. We carry out regular fire alarm testing and annual inspections with Humberside Fire Brigade. Your child’s safety isn’t something we treat as a box-ticking exercise.

What’s Included in the Rent?
We offer two options: rent only, or bills included. With bills included, your son or daughter pays one monthly figure that covers fibre optic broadband, gas, electricity, water, and a full annual TV licence. No surprise direct debits landing at the wrong moment. No frantic calls home when an unexpected bill arrives.
If they’d rather manage their own bills, the rent-only option is available too.
How Close Are the Properties to University?
All of our student accommodation in Hull sits within a 10-minute bus journey of the university at most. Most properties are within walking distance. If your child isn’t a morning person (and let’s be honest, most students aren’t), that matters more than they’ll admit until week three of term.
What Do the Properties Look Like?
Our student houses in Hull are fully furnished and move-in ready. Every property comes with Wi-Fi, a Smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen, and a full-length mirror. Select properties also include parking, a games room, and en-suite bathrooms. It’s worth checking the specific listing for exactly what each property includes.

Can They Live With Their Friends?
Yes. Students can book with friends, or by themselves. For students who haven’t found a friendship group yet, we also offer the option to book alongside people they haven’t met. It’s a great way to start building one.
Can You Visit?
Absolutely. Parents are welcome to come and see the property whenever they like. Plenty of families visit during move-in and come back throughout the year.
The Bit Worth Acting On Now
It’s August. The 2026/27 academic year starts very soon, and safe student accommodation in Hull at this standard doesn’t stay available for long. If your child is still searching, now is the time to get in touch.
Drop us a message and we’ll help find the right property before the last ones go.
